Carlos Avenancio
Assistant Professor of Finance
UC San Diego & NBER
I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of California - San Diego, Rady School of Management.
I am a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in the Law & Economics and Political Economy programs. I am also a nonresident scholar at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth.
I work on the intersection between finance, law, and political economy. My research focuses on Equitable Finance: how financial, legal, and political institutions allocate political power, wealth, and economic opportunity. I have worked on property taxation, housing markets, voting rights, campaign finance, criminal justice, labor markets, collective bargaining, corporate finance, and household finance.
I currently teach Real Estate Markets to graduate students at UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management.
I received my Ph.D. in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley, and my J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico. You can find my CV here.
